About Mega Laughs
When comedian Lester Barrie, and executive producer Esther Joseph first envisioned the Mega Laughs comedy tour, they had two goals in mind. One, that the tour would go beyond the stage antics of some of the top comedians in the country, showcasing not only their comedy, but also their personal testimonies of faith that have shaped their lives and careers. And second, that it be funny…as funny if not funnier than any secular comedy show on the comedy circuit.
“Comedy has a way of breaking down barriers and becoming outreach to people who might not go to a church.” Esther explains. “Lester Barrie’s Mega Laughs Comedy Tour seeks to make people laugh harder than they have in a long time, and with good clean fun. However Lester also wanted people to be touched on a spiritual level.” Lester reminds us that the word of God tells us, quoting Ecclesiastes 3 , “ There is a time to laugh!”
“We chose some of the best comedians in the business,” says Lester Barrie, who has been a comedian for more than 20 years including a year of hosting on BET’s Comic View. “As host on BET,” Lester explains “I had the honor of introducing comedians from every corner of the United States. I know who works clean and who can really bring the comedy pain and still be Gospel friendly.” He concludes , “I chose comedians that would appeal to all ages, something that you could bring your grandmother to as well as your kids and everybody would laugh and have a good time.” Exec Producer Esther Joseph explains that Lester Barrie’s Mega Laughs is not only ministry to the audiences of our churches, but it is also a witness to the comic talent that there are multitudes of people in America who really enjoy a good clean laugh.”
